Timeless Express

Timeless sound journeys with expression and joy of playing

Timeless Express, consisting of members Tanja Essig, An-Chi Tseng and Solange Komenda, is a recorder trio that met at the Karlsruhe University of Music, formed in 2019 and receives ensemble lessons from Karel van Steenhoven.

Recorder music from the Middle Ages to the present

Timeless, German for "timeless", is a keyword in the trio's thinking: music is timeless and cannot be grasped. The feelings associated with it may well be different from century to century, nevertheless the music manages to touch people anew. Express is an abbreviation in music for "expression", i.e. "expression". They want to convey their music in this way and share the fascination that can be found in music with the audience.

Recorder music from the Middle Ages to the present

The trio is interested in the entire repertoire of the recorder. Accordingly, music from the Middle Ages, through the Renaissance, Baroque, to the 20th/21st century is a fixed part of their program. In addition, they successfully write arrangements for their instrumentation. Together they took part in the ORDA Festival 2019 (Open Recorder Days Amsterdam) and won the 2nd prize at the Tre Fontane competition in Trossingen 2019 (the first prize was not awarded). Timeless Express is mainly active in the concert industry. Their activity is very diverse: whether with their solo programs and recitals, on requests from museums or as musical accompaniment to art exhibitions, they are open to everything.

Quartet Revoiced

Timeless sound journeys with expression and joy of playing

The ensemble Quartet Revoiced, consisting of many recorder players, was founded at the Karlsruhe University of Music. For over a decade, the ensemble has been dedicated to the recorder in all its facets with diverse and varied programs. Despite different characters, the quartet always manages to find a fine-tuning. Whether Renaissance music or contemporary premiere: their joy of playing and their common curiosity to expand their own horizon connect the four musicians.

Block flute music from the Middle Ages to the present

The quartet was a scholarship holder of the YEHUDI MENUHIN foundation "Live Music Now", among others, guest at the BRQ Vantaa Festival Helsinki, the Church Music Days Bad Wimpfen, the Hermann-Haake Foundation in the Ludwigsburg Residenzschloss and performed as part of the SchlossKulturNacht Ettlingen, as well as the Musica Nova Reutlingen and on behalf of the Förderkreis für Neue Musik Heilbronn.

Unblocked - Stuttgart Blockflute Orchestra

Great ensemble art for a versatile instrument

Our vision is to further develop the diverse possibilities of blockflute playing and to give the instrument the importance in the "large ensemble" that it deserves. In addition, we give young composers the opportunity to enter and explore new musical territory in relation to the sound world of the blockflute - we promote this to the best of our abilities.

Contemporary music for blockflute rethought

The blockflute orchestra was founded as a soloist ensemble in 2018 in Stuttgart and is the only professional blockflute orchestra in Germany. The musicians come from Germany, Switzerland, Taiwan, Japan, Korea, France, Brazil and Latvia. The played works are almost all exclusively composed for the ensemble and premiered by it.
Hans-Joachim Fuss conducts the orchestra. The Stuttgart Blockflute Orchestra Unblocked performs in Germany and has already performed in France, Switzerland and Brazil.

Sound In Silhouette

Blockflute and keyboard sound in fine dialogue

We, Jeanette Chao and Solange Komenda, are connected by a friendship of over ten years. Since the first semester of study at the Karlsruhe University of Music, we have been making music together. Jeanette Chao on the piano, trunk organ and harpsichord and Solange Komenda on the various blockflutes perform works from the Baroque period to premieres.

From Baroque to premiere: music with depth and proximity

Sound In Silhouette is therefore very versatile and will make a concert tour to Taiwan in 2027. There, performances - from children's concerts, classical concerts, conversation concerts to musically entertaining framings of evenings - and masterclasses are expected.

BetweenTwo

Large ensemble art for a versatile instrument

Recorders and harps – for our today's performance a mystical duo, which tells of past times, stories and legends. The intimate relationship that this instrument combination can radiate, we, Theresa Bogisch and Solange Komenda, want to show in appropriate concert formats.

Contemporary music for recorder rethought

In addition to works from the Middle Ages and Renaissance, also late romantic music, works of Biedermeier and French impressionism, Baroque music of all kinds, but also contemporary music, folk songs from Europe and traditional melodies from Great Britain and Ireland are part of their repertoire.
